I did these to help a friend out at Lawrence Tech. The project called for a metal insect business card holder that must be assembled in the LTU fabrication lab to demonstrate capability in cutting, milling, drilling, tapping, and welding.

Here is my entry for the WaveSport Kayak Hull Trip-Tych competition. The design brief calls for a three part image that tells a story and has a beginning, middle, and end. This story starts with a little fish and ends with a big one.

Light Rail Terminal at Michigan Central Station

What would happen if the train station and passenger service in and out were to be restored instead of being destroyed? This model illustrates one possibility if trains returned as a dominant form of transportation.

Once passengers arrived, they would need a way to get around. If light rail service was running on Michigan Avenue, travelers could simply make there way to the terminal without ever stepping outside and be on their way.

A concept for the light rail terminal. The pediments on both ends serve to compliment the architecture of the original station. The large glass area provides natural lighting, and the area below the terminal can act as a drop off/loading zone.

Origami Gear Guard

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to bend up a set of shields to cover some really sharp and heavy gears . This was a one off and super low budget affair, using things around the office.

I redrew my paper template in Rhino, printed it out and glued it to 22 gauge sheet metal from Home Depot.

After cutting and filing, I bent the pieces into shape using some steel blocks left over from another project and fitted them to assembly the gears would attach to (forgot to take pictures of that part).
Following drilling and tapping, I scrubbed them with a lacquer thinner soaked scotch brite pad and applied clear coat.
The final installation. Covering the area where humans interact, while not hiding the gears entirely, since they are a key feature of the design.

Monte Carlo SS wagon

I did this 1984 SS 2 door wagon because I am obsessed with the 1979 Trans Am wagon concept, but I already have a Monte Carlo. I tried to make the drawing it self as '80s as possible.

Commuter Bike

Here are some sketches I did for a commuter bike that is pretty liberal with its use of Cannondale technology, plus some detachable waterproof grocery/tote type bags. Also, it is supposed to be blue, not orange. Weird.

Here is an anal retentive rendering I did for a client at work. It is used to show what they make and where it goes. The vehicle is generic. I started with a pencil drawing, but the project changed half way when the client stated that they did not want to see any pen or pencil lines. The rest was done in Photoshop. I normally don't do things this tight as a pure drawing, so it was a really good learning experience.

Protected space explorers not only from the harsh environment of the ether, but lance, battle axe, sword, and mace attacks. However, the suit proved to be unpopular with astronauts, who often got chest hairs caught in the torso locking mechanism.
